Northern Michigan Orthopaedic Surgeon Chooses to Un-Retire

PETOSKEY, MICHIGAN — Bay Street Orthopaedics has the pleasure and the honor of welcoming Dr. Joseph Hance, MD, back to the fold. “After 22 years of working alongside him, and seeing his level of expertise, we were very aware of the skills he would be taking with him when he retired in 2017,” explains Bay Street Orthopaedics Senior Partner and Orthopaedic Surgeon Alfred Wroblewski, MD. “We were behind his desire for a life change and we respected his decision. We hated to see him go then, but now he’s back, and we couldn’t be happier.”

Dr. Hance explains, “It didn’t’ take long for me to realize that I missed the practice, my patients, and my professional colleagues at Bay Street Orthopaedics. I guess I just love what I do.”

Dr. Hance graduated from Wayne State Medical School in 1977. He completed a five-year program in orthopaedic surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, on June 30, 1982. One week later, Dr. Hance arrived in Petoskey beginning his practice with Bay Street Orthopaedics on July 5, 1982.

“Dr. Hance has a solid reputation and decades of experience,” adds Dr. Wroblewski, “so it’s no surprise that he would want to get back to his practice. We will always support him in his decisions, and we feel fortunate that he will also remain here with us.”

Dr. Hance will be practicing office-based orthopaedics. To schedule an appointment, contact your primary care provider for a referral or call 800.968.5155.
