Bay Street Orthopaedics & Spine welcomed Orthopaedic Surgeon Logan Hanson, DO, to its team of specialists in August 2020.

A board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Hanson graduated from Oakland University, Cum Laude, in 2009 with a major of Science and minor of Health Sciences. He completed medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience (KCUMB) graduating in 2013, followed by surgical residency at Beaumont Farmington Hills Hospital.

Dr. Hanson’s practice focuses on hip and knee osteoarthritis with specialized training in total knee arthroplasty and anterior total hip arthroplasty. He also treats a variety of general orthopaedic conditions including fracture care and sports injuries. Asked about his passion for orthopaedic care, Dr. Hanson explains, “I enjoy making a direct, immediate impact on patients, dramatically improving quality of life.”

From the onset of a patient relationship, Dr. Hanson believes in the importance of communication and engagement, so patients fully understand treatment options, both surgical and non-surgical. “I strive to develop relationships with patients to obtain their treatment and achieve lifestyle goals.”

Together with his wife and two young children, Dr. Hanson moved to northern Michigan, settling in Gaylord in 2018 where he will make the new Bay Street Orthopaedics & Spine outreach office his main practice location. In addition to Gaylord, Dr. Hanson is accepting patient appointments at the Petoskey, Charlevoix and Cheboygan locations as well.

“I enjoy the small-town environment and outdoor recreational opportunities that northern Michigan offers,” he shares. “My goal is to help patients do what they love, too.” In his spare time, Dr. Hanson enjoys cycling, camping, boating and skiing.
