at Bay Street Orthopaedics
Bay Street Orthopaedics is pleased to announce the addition of Austin McPhilamy, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. McPhilamy is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon and has completed a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma surgery with a subspecialty interest in pelvis, acetabular, and high-energy peri-articular fractures. His experience in general orthopaedics also includes knee and hip replacement surgery.
“Traumatic injuries are never predictable and rarely ever the same. They introduce an inconvenience physically, emotionally and financially on the affected individual.” says Dr. McPhilamy. “And, it is my commitment to care for patients when they are at this most vulnerable time which gives me such professional satisfaction,” he adds. “I am honored to join the staff at Bay Street Orthopaedics.”
Trauma poses a real risk for death or long-term disability. “The state of Michigan has new regulations and required protocols for the treatment of trauma injuries,” says Orthopaedic Surgeon Joseph W. Hance, MD. “Welcoming Dr. McPhilamy to Bay Street Orthopaedics with his extensive skill set, puts us in a good position to address traumatic injury at the local level. He is a solid addition to our staff.”
Dr. McPhilamy graduated in 2006 with high honors from Michigan State University. He completed medical school at Wayne State University in 2010 and finished his orthopaedic surgery internship and residency at Indiana University in 2015. Dr. McPhilamy followed with a fellowship year in orthopaedic trauma surgery under the tutelage of Timothy Bray, MD, and the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic.
